Post a Journal Entry using a Template

To post a journal entry using a template follow the easy steps below. Be sure to overwrite the existing posting amounts before you save.

 

1.Starting from the main screen, select Accounting > General Ledger > Journal Entry.

 

2.In the top header of the screen, select Template by clicking on the circle to the left of Template.

 

3.Click on the to the right of the Reference Number field and select the correct template from the list.

 

4.Now, at the top of the screen, select Regular this will blank out the period and date fields so that you can enter them before posting your entry.

 

5.Enter the Calendar Period or Fiscal Period and the Transaction Date for the posting.

 

6.Also enter a Reference Number for the posting. The number will apply to this specific posting, and not to the template.

 

7.In the Distribution section, double-click on the posting amounts from the template and replace them with the correct amounts. Be sure that the Control Total equals zero before you attempt to save.

 

8.Once you have entered the necessary information, click the Save button in the bottom toolbar. This will post the amounts to the G/L Accounts. You can verify that the amounts posted through the General Ledger Inquiry screen, by selecting "Journal Entry" in the Source field.
