G/L Group

A G/L Group is a group of G/L Accounts. For example, the group "Cash Available" may contain multiple General Ledger checking accounts that combine to make up your total amount of available cash.

Additionally, you should have a G/L Group called "Income Summary", which must include all Income Statement G/L accounts. This group will be used on the Balance Sheet as part of the calculation for equity.

If you have multiple branches and are using the Branch G/L Suffix to separate your G/L Accounts for the branch, you can create branch specific financial reports, which requires branch-specific G/L Groups to be configured. For more information on branch-specific reports, see the Creating Branch-Specific Financial Reports page.

Accounts can be added or removed from the group through the G/L Group screen, or through the G/L Account screen for the account. These groups can also be set to appear on financial reports through the Financial Reports screen.

You can also click the Report button in the bottom toolbar to view a report of G/L Groups, including descriptions, accounts, and linked reports.
